On Christmas morning of 2010 I was waiting for one present to be opened. I kept on going through my presents until I came to one I thought would be it but I turned it around to see who it was supposed to be and of course it was for my cousin and it was the exact game I wanted. I went through the whole morning looking for it and it never seemed to show and boy was I angry because, I thought I would get since it was number 1 on my Christmas list. And after the morning was over I thought I was going to have to play one game for the rest of my life .I went through the whole morning pouting because I didn’t get the one present I wanted And that is when my dads head flipped.
He said to me “ Hey Kyle we are going to go some where and just wear what you have on
.” I said “ O.K.” and we left. On the way I realized that we were heading downtown and I didn’t know what we were going to do. My dad turned into this neighborhood that didn’t look like a great place. It was really close to the Rockies stadium and I got all excited because I thought we were going to go to a Rockies game but then we turned the opposite way from the stadium and I looked around and noticed some homeless people around and that is when I knew what my dad was doing. He started to talk to me about how much they had and he told me how lucky I was to have a home and have all the stuff I have because they barley have anything. All they had was a shopping cart full of cloths and food from a dumpster or at least it looked like that I started to cry because my dad kept on telling me about some of the stuff they had been through in their childhood and how their parents might of not of been good people but he also told me that there are kids their right now that when I started to cry even more. I also bet they have higher hopes then a priest at a church they wish for the best to happen and wish nothing else goes wrong in their life. We kept on going around and I was pondering why they didn’t have their heads down because if I was homeless because my mom and dad were bad people I would be very made at them and blame it all on them but I also wouldn’t complain because I should be happy that I at least have a family and not have ant parents at all. We started to drive on the highway when I put my hand in my pocket and realized that I had my 50 dollar bill that my grandpa gave me and I told my dad to turn the car around and head back to where we were. Once we got back I found a family of four and gave them my 50 dollars and
they all said “THANK YOU.” And I was very pleased with myself of doing a good deed. My dad d was very proud of me doing it and when we got home my dad told everybody in my home and they were all very proud of me and I was proud of myself, Then me and my dad went downstairs to my basement and started to work on my new hockey net tat I hot so I could practice and that day forward I Know not to pout about the things I don’t have and live with the things that I do have.
